The Base: Hinterher Trailer

The proven Hinterher bike trailer forms the mobile foundation. A robust, two-wheeled steel frame with a flat loading platform and tow bar that attaches to any standard bicycle.

Do I need a Hinterher trailer? expand_more
Yes. The Boxtainer module is designed as an add-on for Hinterher bike trailers. It sits on the flat loading platform and locks in place with the integrated quick-release mechanism. You need a compatible Hinterher trailer (models from 2020 onward). If you do not have one yet, we are happy to offer a bundle deal.
Can I add modules later? expand_more
Absolutely. That is the core of our modular system. You can start with a chassis and a single bin, then add more bins or specialty modules at any time. All components are backward-compatible and fit both chassis variants.
Are individual parts replaceable? expand_more
Yes, every component — from a single drawer insert to a complete bin — can be reordered individually. Damaged parts do not need to be fully replaced. We also offer a repair and refurbishment program.
What tools do I need for assembly? expand_more
None. All Boxtainer modules use a tool-free slot-and-latch system. The chassis is placed on the trailer platform and secured with two levers. Bins snap into the chassis slots. A full setup takes under 5 minutes.
Is the wood weatherproof? expand_more
All wood elements are treated with a multi-layer, UV-resistant natural oil finish. Rain, splashes and temperature swings are no problem. The S-size bins are additionally IP67-certified. We still recommend covering or storing the module during extended periods of non-use.
What is the delivery timeline? expand_more
We are currently in the pre-order phase. After reserving (149 EUR deposit, fully refundable), you will be notified of the exact delivery date. The first production run is planned for Q3 2026. Early pre-orders receive priority.
